In case you hadn't heard,

Obama has picked Biden. No text message last night. It never came. Not that it mattered, though: the media beat him to the punch. Too bad, too. I really liked the idea of notifying the American people directly, rather than through the media... No matter. McCain already has an attack ad out. The convention starts on Monday. Now, it gets fun.

I got the text message early this morning. Not sure why you didn't.

All this hype for the most mundane, most expected 'choice'. Bah! 'Change' my ass.

Who would you rather have had? Someone nobody's ever heard of? I think he made a very good choice, personally. Biden has the experience and expertise to lead change in the next administration, and is well respected by other governments as someone who doesn't fold under political pressure.

I agree, I think Biden is a very good choice for the reasons you stated. He also balances the ticket, etc, etc, blah, blah. Yet Biden is not an agent of change, which is, at least given lip service as Obama's theme.

I thought Kaine would have been a good choice for branding purposes - Obama / Kaine has a nice ring to it ;)

If he really wanted to follow his theme of change and a new kind of politics, he didn't even have to go for an unknown, he could have gone with Chris Dodd. Though, I believe his message would have been better served by a qualified unknown.

What Obama's choice in VP once again shows is that the Obama the image and Obama the politician don't match. This whole 'change' thing is just marketing. It's the same branding that every politician does. His insincerity bothers me.

Of course, McCain's hawkish nature, opposition to woman's liberation, and hostility to civil rights bothers me a whole helluva lot more. Let's just say that I'm voting Obama, but I didn't drink the coolaid.
